SEARCH AND REASEARCH – APPROACCHES TO DESIGN RESEARCH IN ARCHITECT

The AA lecture event was on the invitation by Prof. Jaffer AA Khan Director Marg Institute of Design and Architecture, Swarnabhoomi (MIDAS). The public lecture was aimed at benefiting students, professionals and general public on the approaches and the processes involved in design through the work done at AASchool of Architecture, London.

Brett Steele, Director AA London, lectured on search and research in architecture explaining “The process of approaching architecture in three parts” being stating the obvious, imagining the unexpected and remembering the inevitable. The lecture also gave a brief idea about AA London which is 166 years old. He said John Ruskin, 19th Century Philosopher had lectured there.

Theodore Spyropoulos, lectured about “Alternative design approaches in the information age” which showcased the exploration of design process though various mediums. Few being the interaction between human digital realms, parameterizing the information between various socio-cultural activities and etc. He was showing examples of the robotics in architecture and how the future of architecture will be a challenging one especially for India.
Brett Steele, was extremely impressed about MIDAS and felt that it was “wonderful school in the making” and moving towards being one of the best schools in the near future. AA school and MIDAS will partner in future programs within Chennai
Prof. Jaffer AA Khan, Director, welcomed the speakers and audience and stressed that, MIDAS has emerged as an important school and is most sought after in this region within three years of its inception. The programs at MIDAS are well researched and the effort by the faculty and students is commendable. Shri.GRK.Reddy, CMD Marg Group presided the lecture session and felicitated Theo Spyropoulos. Mrs.Rajini Reddy, Director SAI and MD Exemplarr Worldwide Pvt.Ltd, felicitated Brett Steele. , Ms.Rangapriya – AVP-SAI delivered the vote of thanks. The event was organized by MIDAS through its student body FEAT-Forum for Exchange of Architectural Thought and supported by SAI-Swarnabhoomi Academic Institutions.
